Counselling

Counselling is a skill that involves actively listening to a person with the view to understand their thought processes to help the person understand what is causing difficulty for themselves. It is a non-directive approach.  I am COSCA certified in counselling skills which is based mainly on the person-centred approach pioneered by Dr Carl Rogers. I am a member of COSCA and abide by their code of ethics. My recognition of Counselling is that the core principles go into all talk therapy approaches. 

Neuro Linguistic Programming

NLP for short, is the outcome of the study of highly effective people and focused on therapists who were getting great results from their clients. It has been continually updated and tends to adopt more advanced methods before other methodologies. Some of the techniques are just embedded in normal conversation. With tThe more explicit techniques, I always ask for permission. NLP is always a "do with" process, not a do to process and always aims to increase your life choices.

NLP is capable of empowering people with life-changing and quite remarkable results within a very short space of time. For example, a phobia can be gone in 2 hours. Imagine a life without that fear of spiders, dogs, birds or whatever you have to adjust in your life just to avoid encounters. As a Master Practitioner, trained by Dr Matt James and Dr John Ryan, I am skilled in advanced NLP techniques including Personal Breakthrough and Timeline Methods.

Breakthrough and Timeline Perspective Methods®

This is the quickest process for changing your life through mindset changes. It is a specific process that takes 2-3 days and needs that amount of time set aside. You make your changes in your own way, I'm just a guide in the process I don't and won't tell you what to do with your life. I also include time to discuss how to effectively set personal boundaries and how to recognise when your boundaries have been crossed. 

Who would suit a personal breakthrough?

  • People that feel stuck and can't seem to move forward.
  • People who have had difficult relationships or upbringing.
  • Business Professionals wanting to bring their AAA game. 
  • Just about anyone who doesn't like where they are in life and wants to change that.

It is not for everyone. Be warned:

  • It can be mentally draining so you must be able to attend the whole time. 
  • You must be able to follow guidance on the process.
  • You must have a reasonable amount of self-awareness and access to your feelings. 
  • You must be alcohol and drug-free during the process. If you have a substance addiction you must be free of it for at least 1 year. 
  • You must commit 100% to the process and to making any changes that you conclude that you must do.
  • If you are happy in your comfort zone, breakthrough is not for you. 
  • It is not for people diagnosed with psychosis or on any medications that can cause this condition.
  • It is very, very rewarding and life-changing. Imagine what life would be if you had a different and more empowering mindset in just a few days.

The NLP change model is

  1. Release the emotional and mental baggage not serving you (we dig that up on day one, release it on day 2).
  2. Set Compelling goals.
  3. Focus on your goals.
  4. Take action on your goals.

Breakthrough achieves steps 1 and 2. Instead of leaving you to fend for yourself with steps 3 and 4, which many feel they can do after their breakthrough, I will recommend following this up with Solution-focused Hypnotherapy for 8 sessions or so. You will be in a better place mentally but I just want to keep you there until all the changes are adopted into permanent habit.
